QSMBI

This project is a research consortium under the Danish Technical Research Council (STVF) consisting of the following partners:

• The Image Analysis group at the IT University of Copenhagen
• The Image Analysis and Computer Graphics Section at the Technical University of Denmark
• The private research institute CCBR
• The private research company Nordic Bioscience Diagnostics
• The pharmaceutical company Novartis
• The Danish Meat Research Institute

The goal of the consortium is to develop and evaluate the descriptive power of new shape modeling techniques by solving demanding and important real world applications in the biomedical area. So far, the consortium has identified two challenging applications:

• Modeling of the articular cartilage in human knees by 3D MR imaging for the quantitative assessment of osteo-arthritis progression
• Segmentation of pig bodies from 3D CT scans
