Student forum

This is the website of a forum dedicated to students for them to discuss their work on a thesis, a graduate project or a bachelor's project. The purpose of the forum is to help students to maintain a steady progress in their work, as well as to serve as inspiration for current and upcoming students by providing information on the work being done by students at the department.
You are most welcome at our next meeting - even if you are not currently working on a project and you would just like to know what other students are working on.

Note on progress: The survey project is completed, but I plan a more in-depth follow-up project with one or more benchmark implementations in block 3 (starting in February).

- J?rgen talked about his work on analogies - there might be an interesting link to Jesper's interest in invariant representations/abstractions. Rune and Jesper had summed up on the past fortnight the day before, so there was not much to report 24 hours later.

- Everybody reported on their progress, in particular Jesper talked a bit about his experiences at the Sixth International Conference on Epigenetic Robotics. Topics like the number of female computer science students and the immediate possibility of student publications were discussed in addition to a lot of other interesting issues.

Afsaneh and Alima would like to discuss the representation of uncertain knowledge.
We are operating in a domain with three types of objects (diagnoses, symptoms and treatments). Our object is to learn the relations between these objects through uncertain statistical data and uncertain feedback on trials, hence we wish to compute the probability on the individual realtions. We are thinking to use bayesian networks alog with MCMC and reinforcement learning.
We would like to discuss ways of representing and reasoning on uncertain knowledge of our kind.

- Abstract
- Rune had finished a draft of the working description for his thesis. The focus of Rikke's work on extracting structure from unstructered text was clarified and discussed. Alima and Afsaneh presented a diagram displaying an overview of their domain. Jesper lent a concise collection of articles on neurocomputing from Rune, including an article by William James, in 1890, possibly related to Peter Naur's critique of AI.
